Teach at Platetone!

​Platetone is always looking for instructors to teach classes in our space! Classes should tie into our key areas of printmaking, paper making and book arts, but we'll also review proposals for classes that push that boundary.

Instructors at Platetone take home %60 of the profit.

Deadlines for proposals are:

Spring: Jan-Apr; proposals due Nov. 1
Summer: May-August; proposals due Mar. 1

Fall:  Sept-Dec; proposals due Jul. 1  (Extended this fall through October 21st)

Minimum enrollment:
Classes must meet minimum enrollment to run. Please spread the word about the classes you are teaching to help us make this happen!
Materials:
Instructor is responsible for procuring most class matterials. See details in form below.
Feedback:
Students fill out class evaluations for every class, which we use to determine future course offerings. 
Pay rate: 
Instructors at Platetone take home %60 of the profit and are guaranteed $20 per instructional hour at minimum enrollment.

    Platetone Class Proposal Form

    Classes may occur on one day or multiple, may run over a weekend, or over a period of a few weeks. For more in-depth classes, have seen good success with long Saturday classes spanning morning and afternoon with a lunch break, but other formats work well too.
    We understand that it may not be possible to get EXACT costs for all matterials. Please make your very best estimate. Reach out to contact@platetone.org with any questions.
    Tools/Matterials already available at Platetone for class use. Email contact@platetone.org with questions.
    • brayers, pallet knives, basic lino carving tools, black etching and relief ink. Ask about other available inks.
    • cleaning supplies
    • silkscreen emulsion, 1 scoop coater, 4 squeegees, 1 tshirt arm, 2 screen hinges on tables
    • large glass table + mobile glass ink plates

    Not a member of platetone? ​

    Non-members (board members also do not need to submit the following) are required to provide 3 references and a resume. References may not be family members and could be colleagues, supervisors, previous students, and general character references.

    Commitments and Disclaimers:

    By submitting this proposal you are committing to set up, teach and clean up after your class on the agreed upon time/dates if your proposal is approved. If an emergency or unavoidable commitment arises preventing you from teaching at the agreed upon time, you promise to contact Platetone as soon as possible.

    ​You are also committing to abiding by all Platetone's rules and policies while in the studio. 

    Should your workshop proposal be approved by Platetone and should the class meet minimum enrollment and be held, Platetone commits to pay you 60% of the class proceeds after material costs along with a reimbursement for agreed upon material costs. 
    Platetone will not withhold from any funds due to the instructor any federal, state or local taxes, FICA payments, social security payments, payroll taxes, or the like. The instructor hereby recognizes that it is his/her obligation to make and/or withhold any such payments, taxes and other levies.
